Security Center Overview

At Covenant Bank protecting your business from cyber theft is very important to us. Small to medium sized businesses remain the primary cyber theft target, but any business can fall victim to these crimes. Covenant Bank has remained vigilant in implementing layered security fraud-detection and monitoring systems to help protect your accounts. We also encourage you to reduce your business's vulnerability by educating yourself on the following:

Best Practices:

  • Monitor your account activity on a daily basis
  • Provide communication and education to employees using online banking systems
  • Update anti-virus and anti-malware programs frequently
  • Update on a regular basis, all computer software to protect against new security vulnerabilities
  • Communicate to employees that passwords should be strong and should not be stored on the device used to access online banking
  • Adhere to dual control procedures
  • Use separate devices to originate and transmit wire/ACH instructions
  • Adopt advanced security measures by working with consultants or dedicated IT staff that specialize in helping businesses of your size

Cyber Theft Warning Signs:

Note: Covenant Bank will never ask you to send your personal or financial information by, in response to, or via a link in an email. If you suspect you have received a fraudulent email, do not respond to the email and contact the bank immediately.

  • Inability to log into online banking
  • Dramatic loss of computer speed
  • Changes in the way things appear on the screen
  • Computer locks up so the user is unable to perform any functions
  • Unexpected rebooting or restarting of the computer
  • Unexpected request for a one time password in the middle of an online session
  • Unusual pop-up messages, especially in the middle of a session, that says the connection to the Bank
    system is not working, down for maintenance, etc.
  • New or unexpected toolbars and/or icons
  • Inability to shut down or restart the computer

What To Do If You Believe You Are A Victim:

If you believe you are a victim of cyber fraud contact the bank at (267) 327-4910.

In addition to contacting Covenant Bank, you should also report the incident to the fraud departments of each of the three major credit bureaus. You will want to indicate you are a victim of fraud and want to request a "fraud alert" to be placed in your file.

  • File a police report as proof of the crime and obtain a copy or report number.
